The pass plus scheme has been designed by the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) and helps you as a new driver to improve your existing skills and knowledge, helps you to become a more confident and safer driver. Statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have a accident within the first two years of passing the driving test, pass plus will help to reduce that risk
Pass plus will help you to become a safer, more skilful driver. If you feel nervous when driving on your own, it will help build your confidence with driving on all types of roads, including motorways and reducing your risk of being involved in a accident and also saving you money on your car insurance premiums (if you are insured with an insurance company that participates in this type of scheme), possibly even saving you more money than the cost of the course.
The pass plus course must be a minimum of 6 hours in order to receive your pass plus certificate from the DVSA, covering 6 modules including motorways, dual carriageways, driving on rural roads and town driving, night driving and all weather driving. It is best to cover the course over a 2 to 3 week period with 2 hour sessions to fit around the times when you are free. You will not be required to take any further tests. If you do not want to take the full pass plus course and would prefer just to have some sessions with motorway or country road driving, I would be happy to help.
